NEED HELP WITH SIDEKICK SLIDE!

One of the prongs where the battery in my sidekick slide is gone. It's the 4 metal things that are attached to the battery when you put it in. Will it still work? I am charging it right now and the light near the charging hole to plug it is red. Does that mean low battery?
