All right, already -- enough with the iPhone wannabes! Sprint Instinct, BlackBerry Storm, T-Mobile G1, LG Dare, HTC Diamond, Sony Xperia X1, Motorola Krave, Samsung just-about-everything. Black body, silver bezel, black touch screen, online app store. We get it. Can we move on now?
Verizon Wireless and Research in Motion's new BlackBerry Storm has all the familiar BlackBerry features but is a touch-screen device. Audrey Lundy, public relations manager for Verizon Wireless, said Verizon incorporated the touch-screen to keep up with customer demand.
The Agora devices, which bear an uncanny physical resemblance to classic BlackBerry smartphones, will offer 3G connectivity, a 2.5-inch LCD, a 320x240-pixel touchscreen, a five-way central navigation key, a microSD slot, a QWERTY keyboard with backlighting, and Bluetooth 2.0.
The Storm ($200 after rebate, with a new two-year contract) is similar in size to larger BlackBerry models but eschews the standard QWERTY keyboard for a high-resolution 3.25-inch (8.25-centimeter) touch screen that covers most of its face.
